General Opposition

Question / Comment: Response:

·         We don’t want plant in our neighborhood.

·         We feel the project is deeply antithetical to the interests of (not in best interest of) the community.

·         We fought against Key-Span plant last year and we won, hopefully this will have the same outcome.  We will fight.

·         To the people who want to build it and who want to supply us with energy, they should consider if they’ll live here. If they’re Americans and they are fully clear minded, they should help us to not place the power plant in our neighborhood and it should go someplace else.

·         The senator doesn’t feel that you can put even an inch of environmental hazards on top of what we already have.

·         Opposed to the power plant because there are many, many children in the area.

·         We can’t allow personal greed and profits to further destroy our neighborhood and our basic right to live in a toxic free and peaceful environment.

·         12 to15 landlords in neighborhood oppose facility, including myself.

·         We are concerned with the environmental impact.

·         We have enough money to move that out of the people’s homes and given bigger facilities. We just can’t risk this.

Power plants are never popular projects. TGE understands the opposition we have heard.  We do not  expect to change everyone’s mind.  We do hope to arrive at point of constructive dialogue so that the community will understand the project has been conceived with the welfare of the neighboring residents in mind and that it is not incompatible with approved local planning goals.
