PUBLIC COMMENTS INVITED ON TRANSGAS

ENERGY SYSTEM’S APPLICATION TO CONSTRUCT

AND OPERATE A COMBINED CYCLE COGENERATION

FACILITY IN THE BOROUGH OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK CITY

 

 

          The New York State Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment will hold hearings before Presiding Examiner Robert R. Garlin and Associate Examiner Kevin J. Casutto for public comment on TranGas Energy System’s application to construct a natural gas-fired electric generation facility, as follows:

 

          Brooklyn                Thursday, July 17, 2003

                                  4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

                                  and 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The hearing is being held, on a joint record, in conjunction with Legislative Public Hearings by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on permit applications associated with the proposed facility. 

 

          The public statement hearing is for the purpose of receiving unsworn statements from members of the public regarding this application.  As time permits, speakers will be called after completing a card requesting to speak at the hearing.  Persons who do not speak are invited to comment in writing by submitting their statements to the examiners or mailing their statements to Secretary Janet Hand Deixler at the offices of the Department of Public Service, Three Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York 12223-1350.  Statements may also be submitted by electronic mail through the Consumer Comment Form at http://www.dps.state.ny.us (the Department’s web site); and by telephone to the Department’s toll-free Opinion Line at 1‑800‑335‑2120.  All statements will be included in the public record for this proceeding and will be considered in the Siting Board’s review process.

 

In addition to this notice of the public statement

hearing and the DEC Legislative Hearings, the Siting Board has published a notice of a joint Issues Conference to be convened on July 18, 2003 for the purpose of identifying issues proposed for adjudication in the Article X proceeding and the DEC permit proceeding.

          This matter is being heard in Case 01-F-1276 - Application of TransGas Energy Systems LLC for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to Construct and Operate a 1,100 Megawatt Combined Cycle Cogeneration Facility in the Borough of Brooklyn, New York City.
